Fauntleroy is a scenic and tightly-knit neighborhood located in the southwest corner of West Seattle, bordered by Lincoln Park to the north, Puget Sound to the west, and the neighborhoods of Gatewood and Arbor Heights to the east and south. The neighborhood takes its name from Fauntleroy Cove, which was named in 1857 by Lt. George Davidson of the U.S. Coast Survey after his fiancée’s family. Today, Fauntleroy is best known for its ferry terminal, which provides vital service to Vashon Island and Southworth via Washington State Ferries, making it both a residential haven and a transportation hub.

The neighborhood features a mix of historic homes, mid-century architecture, and newer developments, often nestled among mature trees and offering sweeping views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Fauntleroy is home to the beloved Lincoln Park, one of Seattle’s largest and most beautiful green spaces. The 135-acre park offers forest trails, beach access, playgrounds, and the historic Colman Pool, a heated saltwater swimming pool open during the summer. The natural beauty of the area, combined with its quiet, residential feel, makes Fauntleroy a popular choice for families and retirees.

Residents of Fauntleroy enjoy access to neighborhood staples like Endolyne Joe’s restaurant, Wildwood Market, and the Fauntleroy YMCA. The Fauntleroy Church UCC also plays a key role in community life, offering social services, youth programs, and public events. Between its natural surroundings, strong civic identity, and small-town-in-the-city vibe, Fauntleroy continues to be one of Seattle’s most cherished residential enclaves.
